Message Retention in LaudWords
Messages added to a Laud Crowd are stored and accessible until the card expires or is deleted. Users can control the visibility of their messages through privacy settings.
Message Expiry and Retention Policies
| Card Type | Message Retention Policy |
|---|---|
| Free Card | Messages are available until the card expires (14 days after creation or publishing). |
| Premium Card | Messages do not expire unless manually deleted by the recipient. |
Message Privacy Settings
Contributors can set privacy preferences for their messages when adding them to the Laud Crowd.
| Privacy Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Open | The message is visible to everyone with access to the card. (Default setting) |
| Card Viewers | The message is visible only to other contributors and the recipient. |
| Private | The message is visible only to the recipient. |
Editing and Deleting Messages
- Before Publishing: Contributors can edit or delete their messages if they have a registered account.
- After Publishing: Messages become locked, and only the recipient has control over visibility settings.
- Request for Deletion: Contributors can request removal of their identity or message from a published card.
How Message Privacy Works with View Privacy
The Message Privacy setting may be overridden by the View Privacy setting set by the recipient. For example:
- If a contributor sets their message to Open, but the recipient sets the card to Private, the message will not be visible to others.
- If a contributor sets their message to Private, but the recipient sets the card to Group, the message remains visible only to the recipient.
Note: Contributors do not need an account to add a message, but registering allows them to manage their messages.
