What is View Privacy?
The View Privacy setting determines who can see a LaudWords card. It is controlled by the Receiver of the card.
View Privacy Options
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Public (Premium feature) | The card is viewable by anyone. |
| Open | The card is viewable by any registered LaudWords user with the link. |
| Group (Default setting) | The card is viewable by all contributors on the card. |
| Creator | The card is viewable only by the Receiver and the Card Creator. |
| Private | The card is viewable only by the Receiver. |
How View Privacy Works with Message Privacy
The View Privacy setting controls access to the entire card, while Message Privacy settings control access to individual messages. If there’s a conflict between the two:
- The most restrictive setting applies (Least Privilege Union approach).
Example Scenarios
- Example 1: A contributor sets their message to private, but the receiver sets group view privacy. → The message remains private.
- Example 2: A contributor sets their message to public, but the receiver sets the card to private. → The entire card is hidden.
How to Change View Privacy
- Go to your Received Cards list.
- Click on the card you want to manage.
- Navigate to Privacy Settings.
- Select the desired View Privacy option.
- Save your changes.
Notes
- Public View Privacy is a Premium feature.
- Changing View Privacy does not override Message Privacy settings.
